Truck service works at torque levels a car workshop never sees. A trailer wheel is tightened to 600-700 Nm and comes off after a winter of corrosion — tools from the car bay are simply not built for that.

How to choose

  • Breakaway torque against working torque — makers quote both figures. The second one is what you actually work with.
  • Impact sockets, not chrome ones. Chrome vanadium cracks at 2000 Nm; impact work needs Cr-Mo.
  • A torque wrench is mandatory for final wheel tightening — a setting read off an impact gun is guesswork.
  • Air consumption — a 1" wrench needs a compressor with real output, so check that before you buy.
